My affair with soft pastel continues. Holding intensely coloured sticks between my fingers I caress sandboard while pondering the next leap of my imagination in search of the metaphor.
Classical, jazz and latin music spill from my windows while crows, herons and eagles rise in flight above the changing seascape. A ballroom dancer struck by the sassiness of cha cha, dramatic tango or the grace of the waltz I produce fanciful or odd notions of pairings for my paintings. I love portraying in a still life painting two aspects of life that exist in single fleeting moment capturing movement in freeze-framed images that seem to hesitate just long enough for the viewer to share the moment.
Muse also comes from walks along the waterfront. Engaged by fresh air and nature my overly energetic persona is quietened long enough to paint.
